Processing Catappa Leaves for Ornamental Fish

Catappa leaves or almond leaves coming from Tropical Almond Tree (Terminalia catappa). For Fishkeeping, Catappa leaves are known as a natural ingredient that can improve fish health and balance water conditions in aquariums. Catappa leaves are also often used as a natural alternative to overcome various fish problems, such as stress, fungi, and other harmful parasites.

Cleaning Up

Clean the leaves of any dirt or dust that sticks. Wash the dry leaves by soaking them in a bucket, squeeze it and move the clean leaves into a separate bucket.

Soaking

Soak the catappa leaves with a hot water that has been given fish salt. Soak the leaves for 30 minutes or more to remove substances that may be harmful to the fish.

Soak in Clean Water

After soaking with salt water, move the catappa leaves to clean water and soak for 24 hours. Cover the bucket with clean cloth to avoid contamination with dust or insects.

Drying

Dry the catappa leaves in the sun until they are completely dry. After the drying process, a dried catappa can be used immediately. To store dried leaves, use a covered container and keep containers filled with leaves in a dry and shady place.
